Kim’s “Cold and Flu” Tea

When feeling under the weather, enjoy this tea several times a day.

My friend, Kim, made this tea for me last year when I was feeling a little under the weather. Since then I have made it for myself and Alex several times and I really think it works! It will probably not cure your illness, but I strongly believe it has decreased the length and severity of our colds. It is also soothing on a sore throat and tastes great! Bonus when you are sick!

Thyme has high levels of anti-microbial compounds and can act as an expectorant, helping with coughs and sneezes. Local honey also has anti-microbial properties and feels good on a sore throat. Lemon juice provides a beneficial dose of Vitamin C, which has proven to boost the immune system.

Kim’s “Cold and Flu” Tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 3-4 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • juice from 1/4 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon local honey

What to do:

Boil the water. Pour over the thyme and steep for 5-10 minutes. Add lemon juice and stir in the honey. Sip and enjoy!

    When lemon juice is mixed with equal amount of cucumber juice and some glycerin it works as an incredible moisturizing and fairness lotion.
